Saturday was my first race this year, it was a road race near LaGrange, KY. In the past I have done this race a few times, and the last time that I did it I finished dead last (probably about 5 minutes after the winners). So, my goals for this race were to hopefully not get dropped, and to help my team get a good placing. Well, I achieved about half of that goal as I did manage to finish with the field, but after being near the front for the first 2 laps, I started to slide towards the back of the field and was not able to do much to help my team. Still, all in all, not a bad start to the season.
Sunday was a beauftiful day around here. It was sunny and got up to nearly 70 degrees. It rained early in the morning, but the roads were dry by the afternoon, so I left for a ride just before Kate went to knitting.

It was nice to ride in the warm weather again, as my ride last Sunday had been one of the worst I have ever done (I actually had ice forming on my bike last week). I rode the backroads to Charlestown and then headed out through the state park there to the new boat launch they built on the river. There is a pretty good sized hill going down to the river and I wanted to get some hill work in.
But it was not to be, about a mile from the river, I noticed that my back tire was feeling soft, so I pulled over and found that it was flat. It changed the tube, but by then it was time to head for home. So, here are some shots from my ride.
