Top Gear in Japan

Top Gear has quickly become my favorite (and Kate's too) television show (actually it is the only show we watch). It is a BBC car show that is half stupid stunts and half really fast cars. Here is a segment they did on racing the new Nissan GT-R in Japan against a bullet train.

Riding Outside

After nearly a month of just riding my trainer indoors, the last few days I have finally gotten out for some time on the road. On Christmas Day, I rode from home to John and Sandy's for Christmas dinner and today I rode 3o miles in sunny 40 degree weather.

I certainly can feel the difference between riding outside and being stuck indoors on the trainer - outside is a lot more work!

The two shots here are from my ride today. The first one is a field north of Sellersburg, that to me looks a lot like the land around McBain. The second is obviously just a silly shot of my bike near the end of my ride. The third one is of me at the end of my ride on Christmas, when it was about 10 degrees colder than today, but much less windy.

The last shot is actually one from Thanksgiving that I had not been able to put on the blog because of a problem with my previous cell phone, but I liked it enough that I just wanted to post it here. The dogs just seem so happy and excited to be out and about, even though there was no snow in Traverse City.

Christmas Eve and Morning

Here are a few shots from our Christmas Celebration.

Christmas eve smorgasbord, with our families. A bottle of Corsendonk Christmas Ale that Dad and I shared, which was really good.

Christmas morning on the river, which was a bright, clear, beautiful day.

And the aftermath of opening presents.

Dan Training

Dan just sent me these photos, so unbeknownst to him, they are going up here on the blog. He on his bike takes up half of his and Tomo's living room.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Utica, IN. We finally got our tree decorated last night with some help from our friends, Cat and Charlton.
The weather here in not much like winter weather, just grey, cold, and dull. We hope that all who read this have a wonderful Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa (or anything else you celebrate - Festivus, Chrimika, etc) and a happy New Year.
